The Xtar AA CLR 4300 2700mAh rechargeable battery is a specialised product that offers some significant advantages over traditional Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. Unlike Ni-MH batteries (like Eneloops) that start at around 1.4V and quickly drop to a nominal 1.2V, the Xtar AA CLR 4300 maintains a steady 1.5V output for the majority of its discharge cycle. This is crucial for devices that are sensitive to voltage drop, such as high-power flashlights, some digital cameras, timing devices and other electronics that might display "low battery" prematurely or perform poorly with the 1.2V of a Ni-MH cell.

The "CLR" (Constant Low Resistance) technology provides a linear, gradual voltage drop at the very end of the battery's life. This is a significant improvement over some other 1.5V lithium batteries that can suddenly cut off with no warning. The linear drop allows devices to show a "low battery" warning, giving you time to swap out the batteries.
